Jump bail是一个英美法术语，也称 skip bail翻译为“弃保潜逃”，即保释后逃走。

Bail翻译为“保释；保释金”，在《元照法律词典》中，保释是指“在刑事诉讼中，收到犯罪指控而被逮捕或拘押的犯罪嫌疑人或被告人交纳一定数额金钱，或提供保证人，或满足其他法律规定的条件，并保证在以后的诉讼中能够按照法庭传唤指定的时间和地点到案后，将其予以释放的制度。

美国法律遵循无罪推定，所以犯罪嫌疑人在判定有罪前不能被直接监禁，因此设立了担保，最典型的为交保释金，嫌犯在依法交纳保释金后便被释放，保释金会在其按时出庭受审后退还，如果期间犯罪嫌疑人潜逃，则保释金没收不予退还。这种情况就叫做“Jump bail”，即弃保潜逃。
