汉语的书面文体重简洁明了，在同一名词或名称重复出现时，会找一些简洁的代词来替代。如人名多次出现的情况下，会用她/他替代，公司名重复出现，会用公司名称的缩写或者“该公司”、“本公司”等表达。那么在英语语境下，遇到同样的问题，对这种情况通常又作何处理呢？

首先，我们以“上述”为例，分析一下“上述”这类表述在法律英语中的对应表达。

在中文的法律文件中经常遇到“上文提到的、上述的、前述的”等类似表达，用来指代前文已经出现过的名称。那么在做英译处理时，这些词汇也有其对照的表达，下面我们就结合实例来看一下具体处理。

例1. 本公司所持有之上述股票投资，因无活络市场公开报价且其公平价值无法可靠衡量，故以成本衡量。

Because there is no active market quotation and a reliable fair value cannot be estimated, the above investments are measured at cost.

例2. 咨询委员会获悉，上述根据第65/259号决议提出的内部司法报告预计将分为两份单独的报告，……

The Advisory Committee was informed that it is envisaged that the above-mentioned reporting on administration of justice, pursuant to resolution 65/259, will be addressed in two separate reports, ...

例3. 为了在近期解决多国办事处补充人力资源方面的困难，确保工作人员的能力与其岗位职责，应发挥的作用和总部、地区办事处、多国/国家办事处及上述机构之间协同完成任务的要求相适应，向本国执行局会议提交了长期人事战略（本文件 B 部分），在制定这一战略时考虑到负责审查非集中化情况的特设小组的工作。

综上，法律英语中对“上述”的处理通常有以下几种：前置的如 above，above-mentioned，such，the foregoing，the aforementioned，the said，后置的如 referred to above，as aforesaid。
