三者均有检察官的含义。

Prosecutor

n.

检察官;公诉人。在刑事诉讼中代表政府的法律官员。prosecutor多为普通法系国家所用，这些国家的检察人员一般由律师担任。 

英文释义：

1. A legal officer who represents the state or federal government in criminal proceedings.

2. A private person who institutes and carries on a legal action.

Procurator

n.

1、代理人;代办人;代管人。

2、代诉人。

3、(英格兰古法)贵族的代表;管家;(议会中的)贵族代表;主教(作为教会的代表出现)。

4、(罗马法)诉讼代理人。

5、(罗马法)代理人一种政府官员，有的是代表皇帝进行活动;通常的代理人是行省总

督的助手。

6、(教会法)(圣职收益)代收者;(教会)诉讼代表;(堂区教会)代诉人。

procurator则为大陆法系的有些国家，如法国所用，这些国家的检察官员不必一定由律师充任。

英文释义：

我国的检察院英语名称叫做procuratorate，区别于英美公诉机关的叫法~

代理人;法律事务代理人;律师。

①在英国旧时，代理人分为私人代理人[ private attorney]和法律事务代理人[attorney at law]。前者又称为事实代理人[attorney in fact]，指接受委托而代替他人从事一定行为的人。委托代理人的文书叫作代理授权书[ power or letter of attorney]。法律事务代理人过去是指被准许在西敏的较高级别的普通法法院执业的人，他们相当于在衡平法院执业的事务律师[ solicitor]，及在海事法院、教会法院、遗嘱检验法院和离婚法院执业的代诉人[ proctor]。自1292年开始，法律事务代理人成为一种单独的律师种类。1574年枢密院下令将法律事务代理人和事务律师排除在伦敦四大律师公会[ Inns of Court]之外，此后他们便开始加人到预备律师公会[ Inns of Chancery]中去。中世纪时的法律授权由法官来接收和管理他们，其成为法院的官员并受法院纪律的约東，对之培训主要采用学徒制。从1831年起，若想获准成为法律事务代理人或事务律师必须通过考试。在实践当中，法律事务代理人也是事务律师，只有在普通法法院的正式诉讼程序中才称为法律事务代理人。1873年(《司法组织法》 Judicature Act]废除了这一称谓，而将所有的法律事务代理人、事务律师、代诉人统一称为“最高法院的事务律师＂[solicitor of the Supreme Court of Judicature]。

②在美国，该词在一般意义上即指律师，与 attorney at law或 counselor at law同义。

因此，在翻译中国的检察员时，人们多采用 procurator attorney则常在普通法系国家中被用来称呼具体的各种检察官(因为这些国家规定检察官必须由律师担当)，特别是在美国，如地方检察官( district attorney)，县检察官( county attorney)，州或地方检察官( prosecuting attorney)，州检察官( state’s attorney)，联邦检察官( commonwealth attorney，用于 Virginia与Kentucky州)，地方检察长( district attorney general，用于 New Jersey州)，助理检察长( assistant attorney general，用于 Virgin Islands州)等。

英文释义：

1、Strictly, one who is designated to transact business for another; a legal agent.

2、Someone who practices law.
