Recover一词常用判决等诉讼程序中，在法律英语中的含义主要有3层：

（1）取得；获得（指实际得到或以判决等诉讼程序而得到某物或其等价物。）

（2）胜诉（指获得对己方有利的判决。）

（3）获得损害赔偿；得到补救（指在诉讼或其他法律程序中获得损害赔偿或其他方式的补救。）

一般，recover用在判决书中，常与from搭配，构成recover from，表示“收回（开支、费用、债权、被剥夺的财产等）”，如：

Adjudged; that the plaintiff recover from the defendant ten thousand dollars ( $ 10 000. 00) with interest thereon at 6% per annum from this date until paid.

兹判决:原告人向被告人收回一万美元，自即日至付款以前附加年利6%。

Miss CHAN Yuen-han's view that she would support an interpretation of the current provisions under the MPFSO to the effect that the employer had no right to recover from the employee the employee's portion of MPF contributions paid.

陈婉娴议员认为，对于《强积金条例》的现行条文，她会支持的诠释是僱主无权向僱员追讨已就僱员部分的强积金供款支付的款项。

recover表示“获得损害赔偿”时，常与damages搭配，如recover damages译为“补偿损失”，recover damages in a tort action译为“侵权之诉中主张损害赔偿金”。如：

The plaintiffs are entitled to recover damages, as provided by federal antitrust laws, and that a joint and several judgment in favor for plaintiffs in an amount to be trebled in accordance with such laws.

基于联邦反托斯拉法规对于损害赔偿之规定，原告有权获得三倍于原告胜诉的联合判决的赔偿金。

The defendant argued that the plaintiff should not be allowed to recover for his own negligence.

被告争辩称原告因自己的过失不应当被允许获得赔偿。

另，recover在表示“胜诉”这层含义时，常构成搭配recover judgement against the defendant，表示“获得不利于被告的判决；胜诉”。
