Majority在法律英语中主要有以下两层含义：

1.指逾总数之一半或超过50%，常见于公司章程。

如：

majority rule

(1)多数决定原则。指某一团体的多数有权作出约束整个团体的决定的政治原则。它是由实际参与投票的多数决定的原则，不论其是否构成有资格投票的多数，此系共和制政体的基础。

(2)多数情形原则。在公司法上，作为一项普通法原则，系指公司董事或管理人员在股票交易方面对股东不负有财产受托人的义务。

"special resolution" shall have the same meaning as ascribed thereto in the Companies Act: for this purpose, the requisite majority shall be not less than three-fourths of the votes of such members as, being entitled to do so, vote in person or, where proxies are allowed, by proxy or, in the case of corporations, by their duly authorised representatives, at a general meeting of which notice specifying the intention to propose the resolution as a special resolution has been duly given.

「特别决议案」 具有公司法赋予该词的涵义：就此而言，须在已正式发出通知表明拟提呈有关决议案为特别决议案的股东大会上获有投票权的股东亲身或（在容许委任代表的情况下）由受委代表或（如股东为公司）其正式授权代表以不少于四分之三的多数票通过。

2.成年。

指某人到达成年年龄，从而有权享有所有民事权利，按照其本人意志实施民事行为的状态，与未成年〔minority〕相对。英国普通法上的成年年龄为21岁，但在1970年经由1969年《家庭法改革法》〔Family Law Reform Act〕降为18岁。美国原在普通法上亦循英例，以21岁为成年年龄，后由各州以成文法形式降低成年年龄，绝大多数州亦改为18岁。

如：

Members noted that clause 80 would be amended to provide LR with the power to remove, when a minor who had been registered in the Title Register as the owner of registered land attained the age of majority, the annotation “a minor” added after the minor’s name in the Title Register. 

委员察悉，条例草案第80条会作出修正， 赋权土地注册处处长当在业权注册纪录中注册为 注册土地拥有人的未成年人到达成年年龄时，将在业权注册纪录中该未成年人的姓名之后加 上的 “未成年人” 此项附注删除。
