中英文合同中，日期的表达方式对合同条款的解释有着至关重要的作用，尤其是在规定期限和截止日期时。中文里，“在xx月xx日前”可能表达的含义有两种：一是在xx月xx日之前，但不含该日期；二是在xx月xx日前，含该日期。

翻译为英文时，如无特殊说明，“前”的翻译就决定了“含”与“不含”，常见的表达有三种：

1.By + 时间 （含该日期）

3月30日前，签署可转债协议（CLA）、战略合作及合资公司工作计划(WP)（包括尽调目标和要求），并完成1百万美元借款支付。
By March 30, conclude the convertible loan agreement (CLA), strategic cooperation and joint venture work plan (WP) (including the targets and requirements of due diligence investigation), and complete the payment of the USD 1 million.

注：By March 30，表示包含3月30日，即截止到3月30日当日。

2.Before + 时间（不含该日期）

3月30日前，签署可转债协议（CLA）、战略合作及合资公司工作计划(WP)（包括尽调目标和要求），并完成1百万美元借款支付。
Before March 30, conclude the convertible loan agreement (CLA), strategic cooperation and joint venture work plan (WP) (including the targets and requirements of due diligence investigation), and complete the payment of the USD 1 million.

注：Before March 30，表示不包含3月30日，可以理解为截止到3月30日的前一天，即3月29日当日。

3.Prior to + 时间（不含该日期）

根据买卖协议，完成交易须待于完成日期之日或之前达成（或该等条件的达成仅受完成交易所限）（其中包括）下列条件，方可作实。
Pursuant to the Sale and Purchase Agreement, Completion is conditional upon the satisfaction, on or prior to the Completion Date (or their satisfaction subject only to Completion), of, among other things, the following conditions。

注：Prior to the Completion Date，表示在完成日期之前，而不包含完成日期当日。

当我们拿到一份中文文件，又不确定是否包含该日期，这时，可以直接和客户沟通，也可以在译文旁批注，提醒客户核实确认。
