对于procure，大家知道，其基本含义是“获得/取得（难以获得/取得的东西）”；

而procure that却非常特别，是英语合同中特有的句型，通常译为“使得”或“确保”。

具体到我们合同翻译而言，procure that经常出现的合同类型并不是很固定，在股东协议（shareholder agreement）中有出现，在定期租船合同（time charter party）中也有出现，下面通过两个例子，大家可以体会一下该句型使用的语言环境，学会使用它，能让译文增色不少：

The Shareholders agree to take all necessary action (including without limitation exercising all voting and other rights and powers available to them to procure the amendment of the Memorandum and Articles) to procure that the provisions of this Agreement have full force and effect (other than against the Company).

股东同意采取所有必要的行动（包括但不限于行使全部表决权和其他对其可用的权利和权力以取得公司章程的修订）以确保本协议条款充分有效（不利于公司的除外）。
