Abet和incite都有煽动,怂恿之意,但是二者适用的语境和含义均有所不同。

Abet一词常用于法律语境,指的是协助或者鼓励某人做坏事,即:to help or encourage sb to do sth wrong,可翻译为“怂恿,伙同(某人犯罪等)”比如:【aid and abet】就是一个常见的法律术语,翻译为“同谋;帮凶”。

Incite一词可以用在日常语境中,表示“鼓动,煽动,教唆(通过言行挑逗,激起人们的愤怒,促使事情发展走向暴力,违法)”,即:to encourage sb to do sth violent, illegal or unpleasant, especially by making them angry or excited(stir up their negative emotions)。比如:to incite crime/racial hatred/violence 教唆犯罪;煽动种族仇恨╱暴力。
