简单多数表决（Simple Majority Vote），是指决议只需获得超过成员国过半数的同意票就可以通过，不少国际组织的机关采用简单多数表决。除了简单多数,还有要求三分之二以上通过或者某些表决人（如联合国常任理事国）全票通过。一般事项可以简单多数通过,较为重要或特殊的事项则需三分之二多数通过或全票通过。

绝对多数，它要求获得超过全体有资格投票人的1/2票数，而简单多数只要求到会人数的1/2通过即可。绝对多数比简单多数要求更严格。
