Supplier一般是指直接供应商，指带有研发性质的供应商；

Vendor是作为一个商品供应商出现的，也就是说，他可以作为一个中间人，本身不生产任何商品，有时候可以翻译为“厂商”。

此外，Vendor一词在法律英语中，表示： a person who is selling a house, etc.即（房屋等的）卖主；在日常生活中，也有“小贩、摊贩”的意思。
