Attachment：表“扣押”之意讲时，为the legal seizure of property“扣押、拘禁”。是一种法律程序，在财产保全（property preservation）中，指扣押某人的财产以担保将来判决能得到履行或者将扣押的财产变卖以执行判决。

Attachment指合法扣押，distraint既包括合法扣押，也可指不合法扣押。

Attachment的扣押对象可指人或财产，distraint只是针对财物的扣押。
