Love’s Philosophy

The fountains mingle with the river

译本赏析（仅供参考）：

From the original poem, Shelley expressed his desire for love by advising his lover. Although the style of the original poem is concise, it makes readers deeply understand the feelings of it. Therefore, the translators should also use firm and frank language to show the style of the original poem. For the translation of “In one spirit meet and mingle.

Why not I with thine? ——”, Jiang’s version is“世界上一切都无独而有偶,为什么我和你却否?”. Although the version is fluent, the language is not concise, which is quite different from the poem of the original poem. And Lv’s version is“你我天意难违, 何不结对成双?” His language is both vivid and concise, and similar to the style of the original poem. In addition, the original poem has some features in choosing verbs. These verbs such as “kiss”、“clasp”、“forgive”、“distain”, rich in human emotion. Both translators know this metaphor and translate the original poem into personified sentences. There are many differences between the two versions in the translation of sentence patterns. For instance, Jiang’s version of “No sister-flower would be forgiven, If it disdained its brother;” is“姐妹花朵绝不会被宽容, 如果轻视她的弟兄”, which is slightly stiff and does not conform to the Chinese language habits. Lv's translation is “百花相亲相爱, 天伦之乐共享”, which is not word-for-word, but based on context. In this way, the image of the whole poem has been well connected, and the feelings to be expressed in the poem have been sublimated.
