基本险,英文表达为primary types of insurance,或basic insurance,又叫主险,是指不需附加在其它险别之下的,可以独立承保的险别。与其相对应的,是附加险。终身人寿保险、养老保险等险种都是主险。
附加险,英文表达为secondary types of insurance,或supplementary insurance,就是指不能单独投保的那些险种。人们必须在买一份主险的前提下,附加这些险种才能享受相应的保障利益。一般保险公司在产品的名称上也会有"附加"两个字,比如"附加定期寿险"、"附加住院津贴"等。
基本险和附加险的区别:
1.基本险可以单独投保,附加险指不能单独投保;
2.基本险(主险)和附加险之间的关系是主合同与补充合同的关系;
