一般情况下，英文合同的结尾部分，通常由证明部分（attestation）、签字部分（signature）和附件部分（addendum）构成。

证明部分（attestation）也称“结尾辞”，是安排在当事人签名前的例行文字。这些文字基本上就是一个意思：表示双方签字盖章，特此为证。

证明部分通常以IN WITNESS WHEREOF引出，后边跟execute、sign、enter into、或deliver的主动句型或被动句型。

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned representatives, duly authorized to do so, sign two original copies of this Agreement in English and Spanish, both versions being equally authentic.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, being duly authorised by their respective governments have signed this Agreement.

文内各方谨于本协议首述日期签立本协议为证。

例4. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned have signed this Agreement, in duplicate in the English and Chinese languages, on ……

本协定用英文和中文书就，两种文本具有同等效力，一式两份，于……年……月…… 日由以下签署人签字，以昭信守。

例5. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned plenipotentiaries, being duly authorized thereto by their respective Governments, have signed this Convention.

兹由经各自政府正式授权的下列署名全权代表签署本公约，以昭信守。

除了IN WITNESS WHEREOF之外，合同中有时也会用这样的表达引出证明部分：NOW THESE PRESENTS WITNESS（兹特立约为据），这个表达也可以灵活运用于WHEREAS鉴于条款之后，引出具体协议事项。在该表达中，PRESENTS等于the present writing。WITNESS做的是谓语部分。

除了以上表达，证明部分的IN WITNESS WHEREOF也可用Intending to be legally bound或In Testimony Whereof引导。译者在遇到这样的表述时直接当做IN WITNESS WHEREOF来处理即可。
