在普通英文中，用where引导的状语从句，一般为地点状语从句。但在法律英文中，where通常不作地点状语，常见的用法有两种：

1.where引导法律条款中的条件状语从句
相当于“in the case where”。在香港，其最典型的译法是“凡......” or “如…..”。 例如：

Where a defendant is fined and the same is not forthwith paid, the magistrate may order the defendant to be searched.
凡被告人被判处罚款﹐但没有随即缴付罚款﹐裁判官可命令搜查被告人。

Where a claimant has a claim which exceeds the monetary amount mentioned in the Schedule and which, but for the excess, would be within the jurisdiction of the Board, the claimant may abandon the excess, and thereupon the Board shall have jurisdiction to inquire into, hear and determine the claim. 
如只因申索人的申索超逾附表所述的款额﹐以致该申索超逾仲裁处的司法管辖权范围﹐则申索人可放弃追讨超额的款项﹐而在此情况下﹐仲裁处有查讯﹑聆讯及裁决该宗申索的司法管辖权。

Where an employee is granted any period of annual leave, the employer shall pay him annual leave pay in respect of that period not later than the day on which he is next paid his wages after that period.  
凡顾员获给予任何一段期间的年假﹐雇主最迟须于该段期间后的第一个发薪日付给该雇员该段期间的年假薪酬。

2."where" 用于表示“其中”
通常是用来指明条款或规定的具体应用范围或情况，增加条款的清晰度和精确性。这种用法类似于“in which”或“under which”的表达，主要用于介绍规定或情况，使得相关的法律内容更加明确，例如：

The company has several branches, where the main branch is located in New York.
公司有几个分支，其中主分支位于纽约。

This document outlines various regulations, where each regulation pertains to different aspects of the operational process.
本文件概述了各种规定，其中每项规定涉及操作过程的不同方面。

No employee shall be terminated, where termination is permitted only under the following conditions:
(a) by a breach of company policy as stated in the employee handbook;
(b) by under performance as documented through performance reviews;
(c) by redundancy due to organizational restructuring;
(d) by gross misconduct as evidenced by an internal investigation."

不得解雇员工，除非解雇是基于以下条件：
