Dual Citizenship，where two different sovereigns within their respective territorial confines may lawfully claim citizenship of the same person and he of them.

Dual Citizenship，是指一个人拥有两个国家的合法公民身份，也就是拥有两个国家的国籍。即一个人通过一个国家的法律获得该国国籍，又在另一个国家再一次通过该国的法律获得该国国籍，就被视为拥有双重国籍。

中国不承认双重国籍。世界上承认双重国籍的国家主要有加拿大、美国（默许）、墨西哥、澳大利亚、新西兰、英国、法国、韩国等。

国籍丧失的情况：

（1）自愿丧失。又包括两种情形：

第一，申请出籍，即原具有某一国国籍的自然人要求退出这一国籍。

第二，具有双重国籍或多重国籍的人，从中选择一个作为其国籍，而放弃其他。

（2）非自愿丧失。包括由于婚姻、收养、入籍或领土变更等事实，造成自动丧失原有国籍。有些国家还规定可以剥夺国籍。
