Charge可以是名词，也可以是动词，它包含了多个不同的解释：
1. 提供服务的收费，例：Legal Charge 律师收费；
2. 刑事控罪，例：This case has more than one charge 这案件包含多于一项的控罪；
3. 借贷的抵押，例：The company charged its property for the loan 这间公司以其物业作为借款的抵押；
4. 对法定债务人的物业的押记，用以偿还有关的法定债务。

charge一词在法律英语中的意思较多,既可用作名词，也可用作动词。但常见的意思有三种,通常翻译为“指控”、“陪审团(指示”或“担保权利"。
1.作名词
①意指指控,例如，故意杀人指控(a murder charge), 在这个意义上,charge的意思事实上就是criminal charge;
例： While action is pending, the party faced the charge may be released on bail.
[参考译文] 在诉讼未决阶段,被指控犯罪的一方可以被保释。(名词)
②意指陪审团指示(jury charge) ;
例：During a charge to the jury, the judge summarizes the case and gives instructions to the jury concerning such matters as the rules of law that are applicable to various issues in the case.
