近些年，电子商务蓬勃发展，仓储业得以迅速发展。那么，什么是仓储业，仓储合同又有哪些法律规定呢？

仓储业是专为他人储藏、保管货物的商业营业活动，是现代化大生产和国际、国内商品货物的流转中一个不可或缺的环节。《合同法》关于仓储合同的法律规定：仓储合同，是指当事⼈双⽅约定由保管⼈(⼜称仓管⼈或仓库营业⼈)为存货⼈保管储存的货物，存货⼈⽀付仓储费的合同。仓储业是随着商品经济的发展，从保管业中发展、壮⼤起来的特殊营业。近代以来，仓储业⽇渐发达，原因就是随着国际及地区贸易的扩⼤，仓储业能为⼤批量货物提供便利、安全、价格合理的保管服务。因此仓储合同不再作为⼀般的保管合同来对待，⽽是作为⼀种独⽴的有名合同在合同法中加以规定。

仓储合同具有以下特征：

1.保管⼈必须是具有仓库营业资质的⼈，即具有仓储设施、仓储设备，专事仓储保管业务的⼈。这是仓储合同主体上的重要特征。

2.仓储合同的对象仅为动产，不动产不可能成为仓储合同的对象。

3.仓储合同为诺成合同。仓储合同⾃成⽴时起生效。

4.仓储合同为不要式合同，可以是书⾯形式，也可以是⼝头形式。

5.仓储合同为双务、有偿合同。保管⼈提供储存、保管的义务，存货⼈承担⽀付仓储费的义务。

6.仓单是仓储合同的重要特征。
