总包（turnkey/total package），亦称“主包”。由一个施工企业(或联合企业，或企业集团)包揽一个单位工程(或工程项目，或建设项目)的建筑工程，或安装工程，或建筑和安装工程施工任务。

分包（subletting /subpackage），是指从事工程总承包的单位将所承包的建设工程的一部分依法发包给具有相应资质的承包单位的行为，该总承包人并不退出承包关系，其与第三人就第三人完成的工作成果向发包人承担连带责任。
