在法律英语中，sentence 多指 “（法院的）判决；宣判；判刑”

Concurrent Sentence，在英美法中作为一个经常出现的术语，指的是“合并服刑”。

concurrent sentence —— Sentences of imprisonment served simultaneously in cases where a criminal defendant is convicted of more than one offense. The defendant is entitled to release from prison at the expiration of the longest term specified.

一般而言指的是，英美刑事案件中，被告犯了两项或以上的罪名同时成立，且各项罪名的判刑同事执行。

与之相对的，在英美法中还有一个与“合并服刑” 相呼应的术语，即“consecutive sentence”，该术语除了可以指 “连续刑罚”外，还可以用来指“分期执行的刑期”，这一概念就刚好与“concurrent sentence”相对。
