在法律英语中，"acquit"和"absolve"确实都可以用来表示某种形式的“释放”，使用时稍有区别：

acquit 多指因为证据不足“释放”，宣判无罪。

absolve 除了可以表示上述含义外，还可以表示其他原因的“释放”，或责任的“免除”。

简单来说，从适用范围来看可以理解为absolve ＞ acquit。
