A notice of dishonor is a formal notice stating that the bank will not accept a check or draft presented to the institution. A notice of dishonor may be given to the holder or presenter of the instrument. It may also be given to the issuing institution. (from Investopedia)

Under this timetable, a cheque presented to a bank for payment through accounts is normally regarded as good in the absence of any notice of dishonour by 2.15 p.m. on the following working day.

The provisions of the code (3-508) relating to the giving of notices of dishonour are not as stringent as those contained in section 49 of the Hong Kong Ordinance.
