不可以。虽然material的意思是“物质的”，但material evidence并不是“物证”，物证应该是“physical evidence”如：On the other hand, police have never found a body or any physical evidence connecting him to the crimes he confessed to. （另一方面，警察从来都没找到尸体或任何实质性证据，证明他与他所认的罪之间存在任何关系。） 除此之外，物证也还可以用real evidence、demonstrative evidence、objective evidence来表示. 

而material evidence 则指的其实是实质性证据，物证，对审理的事实有影响的证据。在法律英语中，material常常被理解为实质性的。如：If a Party materially fails to perform any of its obligations under this Contract or if a Party’s representation or warranty under this Contract is materially untrue or inaccurate, such Party shall be deemed to have breached this Contract.（如果一方实质上未履行其在本合同项下的任何义务，或一方在本合同项下的陈述或保证实质上是不真实的或不准确的，该方应被视为违反了本合同。）
